No Income, No Kids

Cam and I had been planning for a while to embark on a year of heavy travel. It’s pretty tough to do while we both have full-time jobs, so we had to figure out the right timing for both of us to step away from our careers for a little while to make that happen.
When I decided to leave Square earlier this year, Cam thought she might be ready to leave SalesLoft some time in 2025. I didn’t want to jump into another role for a short period of time, so I decided to just start my career break earlier, and help make sure her remaining time at SalesLoft was easier.
Well, it turns out that she decided to leave a lot sooner than 2025! Today was her last day at SalesLoft, and I’m incredibly excited for the next year as we travel around the world!
We mapped out a very rough destination list and schedule. All of this may change as we start getting into planning. Our thought at the moment is to travel for about 2 weeks every month in 2025.
- January: Western road trip, visiting national parks
- February/March: Rome + Athens
- April: Australia + New Zealand
- May: East coast road trip, maybe retracing some of a road trip we took early in our relationship
- June: Norway + Sweden
- July: Vancouver, and possibly an Alaskan cruise
- August: Gencon + Chicago
- September: Japan
- October: NYC and Paris for our 10 year anniversary, retracing our wedding + honeymoon
- November: Barcelona & Marseilles
- December: Scotland & Ireland
At the moment this feels a bit overwhelming. I had been expecting to have at least a few more months before I’d need to start planning anything - but here we are! It’s certainly going to be a very busy end to 2024 as we work to plan out the first few trips for next year.
I don’t know what my plans are yet post 2025. That’s a future-me problem to solve!
